About the Event

This is being taught by the amazingly magickal Nikki Murphy!

Intro to Witchcraft (6 part class)

In this 6 part class we are exploring some basics of Witchcraft. This class won’t teach you any specific spells or procedures but will instead help give you some resources to make you a more confident witch. We are going over alters and sacred spaces, pulling energies from all of the elements and using that in spells, your sacred spaces and your daily self-care. We will discuss some strategies to find a spell for your individual need or to write one, how to gather supplies, how to time a spell, and what to do if it seems the spell isn’t working. Next we will talk about keeping a book of shadows and the importance of documenting your spiritual journey and all the ways you can do that; from ceremonially keeping a journal of handmade paper you anoint before every single writing session to having a voice memo on your cellphone where you recall your dreams. Then, we will dive into learning and accepting what magick is natural to you and how to play on your personal strengths and have a community of people with different specialties to help you in your practice. Lastly, we will talk about my favorite part of being a witch- making some magick in every single day. Stir some intention into your coffee, heal your own body in the bathtub, and know you’re creating a sacred space when you sweep the floor. We are all individually called to this craft, and all of the ways we need to practice will be a little bit different; through this class I hope to expose you to what I know works for the witches I know and to help give you some ideas and confidence in your own craft so you can find out what works for you.

Intro to Witchcraft Part Five: Personalizing your Craft In this session of out intro to witchcraft we will talk about using your magickal calling. We will look at what magickal practices come naturally to you and how to showcase those skills. We can discuss what element you feel most connected to and how using that energy gives power to your craft. Maybe you’re a great tarot reader, a numerology witch, a born medium, an energy healer, a medicine woman, a shaman, a psychic, a fairy, a druid, an alchemist. Perhaps even some combination of magickal practitioner- but chances are-like all fields of study- some areas of practicing magick won’t come naturally to you. How do you focus on what you’re good at and cater your craft to your gifts? Since we know we can’t have a naturally easy time with all magickal practices- how do we find trustworthy ways to incorporate other people’s magick and knowledge into our practice? How do we use our magickal community to help us make good choices about magickal tools we don’t specialize in? How do you pick crystals for a spell if you don’t normal work with them? What herbs are good for abundance but safe to use for a witch who can’t keep a house plant alive? How do you make a good potion if you don’t cook at home? Sometimes doing magick is seeking and buying magick from trustworthy sources and we can look at how to use Practical Magick and the community to do so.
